| Robotic Pool Cleaners |
| Robotic pool cleaners are powered by low-voltage electricity, rather than your swimming pool pump or a booster pump. Since your pump runs less, your energy costs are reduced. Plus, robtic pool cleaners have a built-in filter that further reduces the use of your pool's primary filtration system lowering energy costs even more, extending the life of both your pool pump and pool filter, and increasing the amount of time between filter cleanings. Robotic pool cleaners are also convenient - you just plug it in and place it in your swimming pool. Some even have automatic remote controls so you can steer the unit from a lounge chair for easy spot pool cleaning! |
| Pressure Side Pool Cleaners |
| Pressure side pool cleaners attach to the return (pressure side) of your circulation system. This is the side of the plumbing that returns clean, filtered water to your swimming pool. Pressure side pool cleaners use the power of the water pressure to pick up dirt and debris and collect it in an attached bag. Many also have their own hydraulic power plant inside for additional power. |
| Suction Side Pool Cleaners |
| Suction side pool cleaners attach to one of the suction ports in your swimming pool - the plumbing that pulls water out of the pool to be filtered. Usually, this port is the skimmer, or your pool may have a separate vacuum port especially for a pool cleaner. With the hose attached and the filter pump running, suction is created on the underside of the pool cleaner. The suction side pool cleaner moves around the pool while vacuuming dirt and debris through the hose and sending it to the pump strainer basket and filter...where it belongs. Dirt and debris are sucked up by the pool cleaner and then through the hose, past the suction port, through the pipe, and is trapped in the pool filter pump strainer basket. |
| Vacuum Head Pool Cleaners |
| The vacuum head pool cleaner has a catch bag for collecting debris. Pressurized pool water from the booster pump enters through the stalk (a port on the top of the cleaner). Some of the water is blasted out of the tail, stirring up dirt on the bottom so that it can be filtered by the pool's circulation system. The rest of the water powers a turbine on a horizontal shaft that turns the wheels and moves the vacuum head pool cleaner forward. Some water is diverted to a thrust jet, which can be adjusted up or down to keep the pool cleaner from moving nose-up. The head float keeps the vacuum head pool cleaner in an upright position. |
