DEL Ozone :: Pool & Spa Ozonators
| DEL Ozone provides spa ozone generators on 90% of all hot tubs made in the United States. Chances are, you have one and forgot about it. Your hot tub dealer originally sold it to you, but as your DEL spa ozone generator aged and eventually expired, you slowly increased your chemical use, not noticing the ozone generator is deader than a doornail. Now, you continually add more and more chemical products to your spa, and the pH and Alkalinity become a nightmare to balance. Eventually, you dump it. You have just wasted your time and money trying to get your chemistry balanced. Enter ozone . . . |
DEL Ozone has been "Green" since time began.
| Think back to when you were excited about your spa. What it was like when you first spent endless nights enjoying it? Do you remember the clean water? Can you recall the freshness that rose to your nose as you lifted the cover? Now what does it smell like? Does a gym locker, or maybe an old pond, come to mind? |

Ozone has been "Green" since time began.
Today, it remains the strongest sanitizer you can safely use in your spa.

DEL Ozone Spa Generators
There are approximately six million hot tubs in the United States. Most of them have a DEL Ozone spa generator installed at the factory by the hot tub manufacturer. Our family of spa generators includes: |
| DEL Ozone CDS-16 |
DEL Ozone Spa Eclipse |
DEL Ozone ZO-300 |
DEL Ozone MCD-50 |
DEL Ozone T-3 |

Why replace your DEL Ozone generator when you have been living without it?
Ozone is the workhorse of your spa's water. Scientific studies prove ozone kills 99.9% of all virus and bacteria found in spas. Not only that, it breaks down oils, cosmetics and human contaminants that are rinsed off your body when you enter your spa (yes, even you leave a residue). When ozone breaks down oils, you have less "bathtub ring."
Most customers know ozone kills viruses and bacteria and acts as a surfactant breaking down the oils, but they may not know ozone also does something else amazing: acts as a micro-flocculent. In your spa's water, there is particulate matter (such as mineral and metal) that create a dusty look and feel to your spa's water. Ozone, the micro-flocculent, attracts these "spa dust" particulates to each other. This reaction makes the particulate matter now big enough to get filtered out. When you have an ozone generator that is working effectively, the spa's water has more oxygen and less matter. It is the most amazing water you can enjoy. Ozone in spa water provides the healthiest water available.
Due to the fact that ozone is the most powerful oxidizer you can safely use in your spa, it has done its job and reverted to oxygen quickly with no harmful by-products, and, as a result of its quick acting behavior, it is unlikely that ozone will leave a residual in your spa water. You will need a small portion of traditional chlorine or bromine to bank enough residual to prevent cross-contamination in your spa. Although you still need chlorine or bromine as a residual, you need far, far less. Why? Not only is the spa's water's demand on chlorine or bromine lessened with ozone working in the background, but ozone keeps the small residual of chlorine or bromine free and available (effective).
As well as using less bromine or chlorine, you will find you use less shock (ozone IS the shock), less "metal out" or sequestering agent, and less "oil be gone." And, since ozone is micro-flocculating the small particulate matter out, your TDS stays low and your spa water needs to be dumped less often.
The Spa Eclipse is the perfect replacement for almost all generations of DEL Ozone, including the DELZONE products from days past. The Spa Eclipse utilizes an energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly corona discharge (CD) chip. The chip is 1 1/2-IN x 3/8-IN x 1/2-IN in size. As electricity engages the chip, the corona discharge (energy field) splits oxygen atoms up and temporarily forms O3 - which is active oxygen, or ozone. Because ozone is so quick to react once it is introduced to your spa water, it does its job and quickly turns back into oxygen.
DEL's Spa Eclipse is now available in Dual Voltage. Dual Voltage capability is convenient for you - takes the worry out of knowing whether or not you need to purchase a 110V or 220V DEL spa ozone generator. |

DEL Ozone Spa Platinum
If your family is chemically sensitive, if you have a larger spa, or if you simply prefer to sit in water with the least amount of chemicals, use the higher output DEL Ozone spa unit, the Platinum. The Platinum has no replaceable parts except the check valve and tubing (typically replaced annually). This high-end spa ozone generator typically lasts 3-5 years. This unit is not installed by spa manufacturers, and, therefore, is not one you would recognize on your tub.

DEL Ozone ZO-300
If your spa is equipped with a traditional ultra violet (UV) style spa ozone generator (ZO-301, or ZO-300/302), we recommend updating your spa with the Spa Eclipse Dual Voltage for several reasons:
- UV lamps (bulbs) require more electricity and are more likely to fail if there is water back up.
- UV lamps are false indicator lights. Although they may continue to provide light for up to 18 years, the ozone expires at about 9,000 hours of operation.
- UV ballasts are old technology - DEL Ozone moved away from ballast technology over 10 years ago.
- UV lamps contain Mercury and when you dispose of them, you need to follow your local agency's special disposal practice. The CD chip has much less impact on the environment.
However, if you are satisfied with your old-school ozone generator and want to replace the lamp, DEL Ozone now offers a lamp Renewal Kit, part number 9-0721-01. This Renewal Kit includes a replacement lamp 9-0362, a new reliable check valve 7-1140-01 and 5-FT of new 7-0075 tubing.

How do I know if my DEL Ozone spa generator is working?
Remember, if you have the outdated technology commonly referred to as UV technology, or UV ozone, the lamp will light up for years past the ozone life. Therefore, you cannot tell when to replace unless you know the hours of operation. The UV lamps are rated for 9,000 hours. If your UV spa ozone generator is 3 years or older, replace it with a Spa Eclipse Dual Voltage and don not forget that special handling is required to retire old UV lamps.
If you have a CDS-16 (remember, look for CDS-16DR, too) or a Spa Eclipse (begins with ECS-1), then your ozone generator for spas creates ozone using the CD chip technology and part number 5-0561. These chips glow purple, which is the visual process of ozone being created. As it ages, the glow slowly gets lighter across the board until it no longer glows. CD Chips are rated for 9,000 of operation, just like the UV bulbs are.
Another way to tell if your CDS-16 or Spa Eclipse has aged and is ready to be replaced is the discoloration of the tubing and CD Chip Performance Viewing Window. If you cannot see through it, it is safe to say you should start fresh with a new Genuine DEL Replacement Spa Eclipse Dual Voltage.
You only have so much time and money. Why spend it on time and chemicals trying to balance your spa's water. Instead, replace your spa ozone generator and feel good knowing your family is enjoying healthier water, the environment is getting dumped on less often, and your time and money go places more fun than water chemistry.
