The Polaris 280 is a pretty straight forward installation, and consists of 4 main steps. In our pool we have a dedicated return line with a 1-1/2” female fitting, which is what’s recommended for easiest install.

The first step is to flush out the return line by turning the pump on for a minute and then turn it off. Next, install the universal wall fitting (UWF), to do so, disconnect the UWF from the quick connect and screw it on to the fitting with the blue restrictor plate. Now re attach the quick disconnect by inserting it into UWF, turn clockwise and pull.

The next step involves adjusting the hose to the right length needed for your pool. First attach the leader hose to the feed hose. Now connect the feed hose end to the return line on the pool wall. Now, extend the hose out to the farthest point of the pool, the hose needs to reach within 6 inches longer or shorter of the farthest point. If the hose is too long, cut equal amounts from the 10ft sections in the feed hose. If the hose is too short, you can purchase extensions by clicking here. After correct length is achieved, adjust the floats according to the diagram:

You’re halfway done!

Now we’re going to assemble the cleaner, first attach the feed hose to the feed pipe using the nut provided. Now attach the bag collar to the feed hose. Next position the head float 1/2” – 1” back from the feed pipe. We now need to turn on the filter pump to let the 280 prime before turning on the booster pump.

That’s it for assembly but we need to check to make sure our wheels are spinning the proper RPM. The manual states the 280 needs to operate between 28 and 32 RPM. To check yours, mark one wheel tire then turn the pump on and count the revolutions for a minute. If your count is outside the 28 – 32 range, refer to your manual for help.

That’s it! Your Polaris 280 should now be up and running, we still recommend you refer to the manual for maintenance tips and fine tuning to ensure your pool is cleaned as efficiently as possible.
