Rubber-base coatings are one of the most popular types of coatings used for refinishing swimming pools, due largely to the fact that most swimming pools were originally coated with chlorinated rubber prior to the development of epoxy coatings. Today, rubber-base pool coatings still provide an attractive, easy to apply finish. OPTILON is a quality synthetic rubber-base formula meeting all of the high performance expectations of chlorinated rubber. OPTILON can be applied to bare concrete or plaster as well as over old rubber base coatings. OPTILON also has excellent chemical resistance and color retention while yielding 2-3 years average service. Two coats of OPTILON are required for best results. On bare surfaces that are unusually porous, a third coat may be necessary. Important VOC regulations changes! Effective January 1, 2006, the following Olympic Pool Products will have restricted use: Poxolon epoxy pool coating, Paralon 2 chlorinated rubber pool coating, Optilon synthetic rubber pool coating, Bonderite metal primer, and Olympic steel primers No. 219 and No. 220.
