I bought this pump to replace my cracked 3 year old 3/4 HP Superpump II which replaced my cracked 3/4 HP Superpump that was installed when we bought the house. I probably should have bought the 1/2 HP NorthStar Pump as this thing really sucks, water that is. It states in the instruction manual that cavitation can occur if you do not have the minimum 2" plumbing. With 1.5" lines I did have this problem, but after removing the skimmer basket float that allowed a vortex of air [whirlpool] .. more
